NEWSFLASH: Sinoville house engulfed by fire

A resident was treated for smoke inhalation.

A house in Sinoville in the north of Pretoria was severely damaged after a fire broke out early on Sunday morning.

Medi-Edge First Responders said in a statement it received reports of a house fire at around 00:30.

“We immediately notified the City of Tshwane emergency services about the incident.”

“Upon our arrival on the scene, we found the lapa engulfed in flames, with the residents, neighbours and Sinoville CPF members trying to extinguish the fire with whatever resources available,” the statement read.

The response unit said the fire managed to ignite the roof of the house causing “severe damage”.

“We were swiftly joined by the metro emergency services who quickly took control of the situation and managed to extinguish the fire, preventing any further damage.”

Tshwane Emergency Services spokesperson Charles Mabaso said the fire was put out at around 01:04.

One of the residents was treated on the scene for smoke inhalation.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire will form part of a multidisciplinary investigation.
