VIDEO: Ramaphosa signs health compact in the north

“This will have a significant consistence on access to medical treatment,” said Ramaphosa.

President Cyril Ramaphosa signed the presidential health Compact at DR George Mukhari Academic Hospital.

Ramaphosa said the compact will strengthen and improve the public health care system.

At the Presidential Health Summit in 2018, the government and key stakeholders agreed to develop the compact.

The summit looked into nine key areas:

– Human Resources for Health (or the Health Workforce)

– Supply chain management, medical products, equipment and machinery

– Public financial management

– Infrastructure planning

– Private sector engagement

– Health service provision (delivery)

– Leadership and governance

– Community engagement

– Information systems.

“The signing of the compact is part of our efforts to deepen cooperative and collaborative governance,” said Ramaphosa.

President of the health professionals council Dr Kgosi Letlape said: “We are committing to public hospitals where all of us will get health care.”
