North school gets four-day face-lift

A group of parents from Soshanguve used their 67 minutes for Mandela Day by repainting a school, over a period of four days.

A group of parents from Ntsha Peu Primary School in Soshanguve Block F went above and beyond and spent four days giving the school a face-lift with paint.

According to the group of four, they saw the need to repaint the school, to give it more life since it had not been painted in many years.

Resident and parent, Thabo Landane, said that being part of the people who painted made him feel great as he also attended the same school.

“I attended here at Ntsha Peu long ago and the school has been like this ever since. So as parents we thought it would be a good idea to change its colour and give it new life,” said Landane.

Another resident, Stevens Mapuma, said he was honored to be lending a hand to his community.

“As I have been volunteering to this school since January, I felt like it would be a good thing if I and the other members painted this school for Mandela Day, as Nelson Mandela also did good things for us,” said Mapuma.

“We feel proud to have done this in this month. As this is the fourth day of painting, for me it feels like I made him proud to have fought for us,” he added.

Teacher Aubrey Shibambo and a maintenance officer, participated in the activities for Mandela Day.

“Everyone always waits for the 18th to do something, so I felt like instead of doing it for one day, why not do it for more than one day?”

“I approached parents and they wanted to be part of it as they wanted to do something for Mandela Day and they started painting it since the 15th until today on the 18th,” said Shibambo.
