74-year-old Centurion’s dog bitten, killed
A bystander chased the dogs away but it was too late for Nubian who had already died.
Another resident of Centurion has reported an encounter with aggressive unrestrained dogs in the area.
This after Chrizelda Davel’s 74-year-old mother and her two dogs were attacked last Monday in Langebrink Road.
“My mother had been walking with her Yorkie and miniature Pinscher past a property with an open gate when two large aggressive dogs ran out,” said Davel.
“When she saw they were aggressive she immediately picked her dogs up out of harm’s way.”
Unfortunately, it was too late and one of the dogs got hold of the Pinscher.
“He ripped the dog, Nubian, out of my mother’s arms,” said Davel.

“My mother shouted for help but received none from the dogs’ owners.”
“A bystander managed to chase the dogs away but it was too late for Nubian who had already died.”
Davel said children often walk the route to and fro the nearby Lyttelton Manor high school.
“I have since notified the school to warn the children and the Centurion SPCA, but something needs to be done to ensure owners restrain their dogs.”
Earlier this week the Centurion SPCA said concerns about aggressive dogs roaming the neighbourhood should be addressed to the Tshwane metro.
“Complaints related to animal by-laws should be directed to the Tshwane metro on 012-358 4656,” said Centurion SPCA manager Christina Masemola.
Masemola said the SPCA can only investigate matters related to animal welfare.
“The mandate of the SPCA is to prevent cruelty to animals,” she said.
“However, the local municipality is responsible for complaints regarding stray or aggressive animals.”

A 62-year-old resident of Doringkloof also told Rekord this week she carries a stun gun while taking her daily walk in the area to deter dogs from attacking her.
Earlier this month, a domestic worker was seriously injured when she was attacked by a dog in Eldoraigne.
According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, the woman sustained serious bite wounds to her face, as well as body.
The woman was treated for her injuries on the scene before being transported to hospital.
