Stop dumping unwanted animals, warns Centurion SPCA
“We are all saddened by the increase in cases where animals in Centurion are being abandoned on the roadside.”
The Centurion SPCA has reported an increase in abandoned animals in the area.
Last week, seven puppies were found abandoned in a box in Uitsig Road with no water or food, according to Centurion SPCA manager Christina Masemola.
“Abandoning animals is an offence in terms of the animals protection act,” Masemola said.
“This includes any circumstance, permanent or otherwise, which is likely to cause the animal unnecessary suffering.

“We are all saddened by the increase in cases where animals in Centurion are being abandoned on the roadside.”
She said the act was “totally unacceptable and unnecessary”.
“There is someone on the SPCA property at all hours of the day to admit any stray or surrendered animals,” she said.
“So why dump them?”
The puppies found in Uitsig Road were left vulnerable but appeared to be in a fair condition.
“They are currently in our care receiving the necessary medical attention and care.”
A concerned resident had contacted the SPCA to rescue the puppies after she noticed them on the side of the road last week Thursday.
Masemola appealed to anyone with more information about the puppies to contact the Centurion SPCA on 012-664-5644 or the emergency number 082-807-5671.
