NEWSFLASH: Shot fired in Centurion supermarket robbery
During the robbery one of the men fired a single shot at the ceiling.
Six armed robbers forced customers and staff at a supermarket in The Reeds to lie down on the floor while they rifled through the tills for cash during a robbery on Tuesday evening.
The robbery took place around 18:40 at the local Spar in Panorama Road, according to Wierdabrug police spokesperson Captain Agnes Huma.
Huma said the manager of the store was outside when he was approached by an armed man who demanded his wallet.
“The man then instructed the manager to go inside the store,” said Huma.
“Upon entering the manager saw all staff and customers had been made to lie on the floor by five other men who were busy opening the tills and taking the cash.”
During the robbery one of the men fired a single shot into the ceiling.
“No one was injured,” said Huma.
“The six men then left the store, driving off in a silver Toyota Corolla with registration number FR 49 BB GP.”
Police have opened a case of business robbery.
They appealed to anyone with information to contact 08600-10111 or their local police station.
Spar management said they are aware of the incident, but could not provide comment at this stage.
