Women uplifted during east event

“I learnt a lot on how to eat healthy and have a balanced diet.”

Challenges faced by women in their daily dealings were tackled at a seminar in the east of Pretoria at the weekend.

Organiser of the empowerment brunch session Alicia du Preez said she was passionate about empowering women, “because I know the challenges we face on a daily basis”.

Du Preez said she was a finalist in the Ster-Status competition that was created to empower and mentor young women, who wanted to have a career in the South African entertainment industry.

Women empowerment was important and she has noticed how females were down in the industry she was in, “which is saturated with perfection, especially in the age of social media”.

“It is hard for women to maintain confidence when social media always portrays a perfect picture. We are under constant pressure as females to be perfect in society to give our all even when we have so many responsibilities as modern women,” Du Preez said.

Bianca Griessel said she had learnt a lot from the empowerment session.

“I learnt a lot on how to eat healthy and have a balanced diet.”

She said the session was “amazing and very necessary as women needed to empower each other”.

“More of these event are needed,” she said.

Elmien Griessel said the influential speakers on make-up, hair, confidence and healthy eating, touched on issues women mostly suffered from in society.

Shaylen Smith said the speakers covered women issues “very well”.

Smith said she could not wait to apply all the products and positive information to her life.

Du Preez said proceeds raised during the session would be given to her charity project “play Rewind Paws” in memory of her cousin Kayla Burger.
