Pretoria Moot CPF needs you
In many awareness campaigns by the police in the Moot, locals have been urged to join their local CPF.
The Moot police have urged residents to join their local CPF.
Pretoria Moot CPF chairperson Elsabe van Staden said the police pleaded with residents during various crime awareness campaigns.
Van Staden said her CPF patrollers, operating in the Pretoria Moot police station precinct, had “become familiar faces to residents of the Moot”.
“Only this past weekend we drove 1 186 kilometres during our patrols.”

Van Staden said it was every resident’s duty to take hands with them to combat crime in the area.
“Every person can make a contribution, no matter how small,” she said.
“Even if you cannot help yourself, you can still help us by providing us with information, which we depend on.”
She said the CPF was also involved in several projects in the area.
“We regularly visit schools and retirement villages,” she said.
“It is very important to maintain good neighbourliness because the criminals live in between us.”
Van Staden said her CPF was the winner of the Tshwane CPF of the year trophy.

“This, alone, shows that we are not just a bunch of vigilantes,” she said.
“We are an extension of the police and we treat every police officer with respect, which is why we work so well together.”
She said that even though CPF members were the eyes and ears of the police in the community, they didn’t put themselves in danger.
“Appropriate training and guidance are offered and members work closely with security companies and police in the area,” she said.
To join the CPF you must be 18 years old, a South African citizen and not have a criminal record.
“It is preferable that you reside, own property or a business in the area,” she said.
“Joining the CPF is free of charge.”
The CPF runs various community projects to uplift the area and regularly patrols the area to make it a safer place for all.
