North cop brightens up baby boy’s day

Little baby boy from Pretoria north was all smiles when he got to sit on a police motorcycle.

A Pretoria North toddler was all smiles after he got to sit on a police motorcycle yesterday morning.

Each morning for the past 14 years Warrant Officer Stoffel Holtzhausen and colleague Warrant Officer Adri Horn have volunteered on the corner of Jan van Riebeeck and Brits streets to help children and parents cross the road to the schools across.

On 6 August, Pretoria North Kleuter Akademie preschool pupils’ noticed Holtzhausen’s police motorcycle parked at his school with the blue lights flashing.

After Zander Venter, the 17-month-old baby boy’s mother dropped him off at school, the eager little boy, holding on to his teacher’s hand, suddenly ran towards the motorcycle with flashing lights.

“Holtzhausen then picked up Zander and put him on his bike for a photo,” Elize Potgieter, owner of the preschool told Rekord.

“Little Zander was in complete awe and all smiles as he sat speechless on the bike.”

Potgieter said when Zander arrived at school this morning, he again wanted to go to the motorcycle instead.

“From the school, parents and community, thank you to Horn and Holtzhausen for their selfless service to the community and school,” Potgieter said.
