Attempted robbery at Centurion jewellery store
“The suspect took out a pistol and placed it on the counter and told her that it was a robbery.”

A case of attempted business robbery has been opened at the Lyttelton police station.
Police spokesperson Captain Koba Brits said on Friday, 9 August, an unknown male walked into Arthur Kaplan jewellery outlet.
“A staff member asked if she could assist him but the suspect took out a pistol and placed it on the counter and told her that it was a robbery,” Brits said.

“The victim activated the smoke detector and alarm.
Brits said the suspect then walked another few meters into the shop and then turned around and walked out.
“The security guard at the door suspected that four unknown males outside Arthur Kaplan store left with him.
She said no shots were fired and there were no injuries. It was not known what transport was used by the suspects.
