Girl (5) among two killed in Laudium fire       

Tshwane emergency services said the girl tragically died after one of the shacks burned down around 02:00.

Two people, including a five-year-old girl, were killed in a blaze at Itireleng informal settlement, Laudium on Sunday morning.

Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso said the girl tragically died after one of the shacks burned down around 02:00.

“The second incident was reported around 09:45. A 29-year-old succumbed to his injuries after another shack completely burned down,” he said.

“A disaster management official was also despatched to conduct an assessment to determine relief needs for the affected households,” Mabaso said.

He said the cause of the fire was unknown.
