A 24-year-old man was arrested in connection with the rape of a 12-year-old girl in Nellmapius on Tuesday afternoon.
Police spokesperson Captain Jan Sepato said the girl was at the national library in the CBD on Monday afternoon when she realised she didn’t have enough transport money to return home in Mamelodi.
“She then came into contact with the man whom she asked for money to get home,” he said.

“The man then led the girl to a train station where they boarded without even paying a fare.”
He said the man convinced the girl to go to his home with him where it is believed that the girl was given some substances including alcohol.
After that, the man allegedly forced himself on the girl three times.
Sepato said the man took the disoriented girl to board a train again which saw her landing up at the Bosman police station.
“A woman spotted the girl and took her to the police station.
