MTN 8 kicks off this weekend

Both Pretoria clubs (Mamelodi Sundowns and Supersport United) are in the competition having finished inside the top eight last season.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has launched the 2019/20 MTN 8 campaign which kicks off this weekend.

The tournament starts on Saturday, with defending champions Cape Town City in action against Polokwane City at Newlands stadium at 15:00.

Benni McCarthy’s Cape Town City won this trophy last season edging out Supersport United on penalties in a dramatic final.

Orlando Pirates will then host Highlands Park at Orlando stadium at 18:00, while Mamelodi Sundowns and Bloemfontein Celtic will close the Saturday fixture list at the Lucas Moripe Stadium at 20:15, where tickets are selling at R40 for adults and R15 for children under the age of 12.

Sundowns, under the leadership of Pitso Mosimane, is yet to claim the MTN title, in fact, the last time Downs lifted the MTN 8 cup was back in 2007.

The last MTN 8 fixture is on Sunday when Supersport battle Bidvest Wits at Bidvest stadium.
