NEWSFLASH: Protesters block Laudium streets

Tshwane utility services MMC Abel Tau was due to address the protesters later today.

Several streets were blocked when a protest broke out in Laudium on Wednesday morning.

According to the police spokesperson Constable Simon Chokoe, the protest was believed to be about lack of service delivery.

“The community of Itireleng informal settlement gathered in the early hours of the morning, protesting over service delivery. No violence has been reported and police are monitoring the situation,” he said.

Ward councillor Farouk Essop said that Tshwane utility services MMC Abel Tau was due to address the protesters later today.
