UPDATE: Laudium body – police still searching for next-of-kin

The body was found in a water canal in Laudium earlier this month.

Laudium police have asked anyone who might be recently missing a male family member to contact them as they try to identify a decomposed body found in the area two weeks ago.

This as they were still awaiting the results of a post mortem as well as fingerprint analysis, according to police spokesperson Constable Zwane.

“The body was found in a water canal between Agra West Street and Military Road by children playing nearby on Saturday 3 August.”

“The children alerted a resident who called the police.”

“The police retrieved a body of an African male.”

Zwane said the cause of death was still unknown and police were calling on the community to help in identifying the man.

The police urged anyone with more information to contact 08600-10111 or the Laudium police station on 012-374-9846/7.
