UPDATE: Allegations that water tankers in the west are empty have been dismissed
“Roaming tankers have been deployed to supply water to consumers in the affected areas.”
The Tshwane metro has dismissed allegations that water tankers in the west of Pretoria were running empty on Friday.
It was said that trainee police officers at the Pretoria West College were angered on Friday morning when they found tankers empty and demanded the college be shut down, as the toilets had remained unflushed and posed hygiene and health risks.

Tshwane metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo earlier said that the repair of a broken valve at the Iscor reservoir had been delayed due to the reservoir emptying slowly.
“Currently, the water level is at 50%,” he said, adding that the letting out of the water continued.
He said the duration of the repairs would depend how quickly the reservoir emptied.
“Roaming tankers have been arranged to supply consumers in the affected areas with water,” he said.
The following areas/facilities are affected by the interruption:
· Pretoria Industrial
· West Park
· Kwaggasrand
· Proclamation Hill
· SAPS Training College
“Residents will be kept abreast of developments,” Mashigo said.
