UPDATE: Blockage in west reservoir sets back service restoration

"It is suspected that a valve in the reservoir got blocked."

Another blockage was discovered at the Iscor reservoir on Thursday, setting back efforts to restore water supply to the areas that have been experiencing a service interruption.

“It is suspected that a valve inside the reservoir got blocked during the process of filling the pipeline,” said Tshwane metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo.

“This compelled our technicians to once more shut down the inflow to the reservoir to completely empty the reservoir.”

He said this would give them access to the blocked valve.

“There has been significant progress in the draining process and we are hoping to complete the repair work soon and thereafter start filling up the reservoir,” he said.

“Residents will be kept abreast on the restoration of the water supply; however, the metro will continue to supply tankers for water provision in the affected areas until the situation normalises.”

The metro pleads with residents to be patient.

The following areas/facilities are still affected by the interruption:

– Pretoria Industrial
– West Park
– Kwaggasrand
– Proclamation Hill
– SAPS training college

“The City wishes to apologise for the inconvenience caused as a result of this unplanned interruption,” said Mashigo.
