Family festival brings community together

“We aim to have somewhat of a fundraiser through these types of events in an attempt to help the church reach out to people in need,” Alberts explained.

On Saturday morning, a warm and sunny day ahead, many in the Wierda Park area in Centurion joined the Kerk-in-Suid (NG Church Wierdapark South) for their spring festival.

“The goal is to have as many people in our surrounds to come together, sell their locally, handmade products, art pieces or foods, and have a lovely day in the sun with their families and community members. We are proud to host this event so people can mingle and get to know their neighbours,” said Koos Alberts, family festival committee member.

The theme of the festival for this year is “Our Youth, our Future.”

A stage was erected where the guests were entertained by children’s spelling bees, singing and dancing.

Many schools in the vicinity were also invited to enjoy the day, and participate in the junior obstacle course set out for the little ones.

“We aim to have somewhat of a fundraiser through these types of events in an attempt to help the church reach out to people in need,” Alberts explained.

People were treated to all kinds of delightful snacks that included jaffles, the traditional koeksisters, fresh veggies and fruit, cakes and many more.
