North community invited to take hands and help the needy with food.

The Pretoria North bowls club has invited the community to join hands in their annual food collection project this weekend, for the needy.
On 31 August, president of the bowls club Ola van Dyk and his team of 60 bowlers aim to collect food at the club from 07.00 to 17:00.
This year, the club, which has been in existence for 51 years, will collect non-perishables for non-profit Noordelike Pretoria Ontwikkeling Skema (Npos).
Npos gives food parcels to more than 70 underprivileged residents twice a week.

“They are struggling and have to turn families away because of a lack of food,” said Van Dyk adding 4 000 food cans were collected last year, and the aim was to beat the record this year.
Each year, the food collected goes to a different charity or organisation.
Van Dyk said any non-perishable food – rice, peanut butter, spaghetti, maize meal and tea – was welcome.
