West man sentenced to life imprisonment for murder

A man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of an Atteridgeville woman.
The North Gauteng high court previously found Johannes Mabethwa guilty of strangling the woman to death then dumping her body in Church Street in November 2018.
Police spokesperson Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said post mortem results showed that she had been strangled.
“In order to hide his crime, he dumped the body.”

Dlamini said the police managed to gather the information that later led to Mabethwa’s arrest.
“He was then linked to the murder and convicted.
“On Friday, he was sentenced to life imprisonment.”
