UPDATE: Bushiri couple due back in court today
The couple faces charges of fraud, money laundering and contravention of the prevention of organised crime act.

Fraud and money laundering accused self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary were due to appear in the Pretoria specialised commercial crimes court on Thursday.
In May, the couple appeared briefly in court a day earlier than scheduled by prior arrangement as Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi told Rekord the couple’s 10 May appearance was due to safety concerns.
The couple faces charges of fraud, money laundering and the contravention of the prevention of organised crime act related to the exchange control regulations of foreign currency to the amount of $1 147 200 (more than R17 million).

The two were arrested at the beginning of February, at their Sparkling Waters resort in Rustenburg, North West and released on R100 000 bail each days later on strict conditions.
One condition was that they would obtain the permission of the investigating officer if they wanted to travel beyond Gauteng and North West.
“They are restricted to travelling between Gauteng and Rustenburg [North West],” national prosecuting authority spokesperson Phindi Louw said at the time.
“If they want to use their documents they will have to approach the state in writing.”
“They were also instructed to surrender their passports and are barred from contacting the state’s witnesses.”
