NEWSFLASH: Pretoria pedestrian struck and killed

“Paramedics assessed the man and found he had sustained fatal injuries.”

A man died on the N4 highway near the Hans Strijdom off-ramp, Pretoria, on Saturday morning after being struck by a bakkie.

The accident happened at around 10:50, according to Netcare911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst.

Herbst said reports from the scene indicated the adult male had been crossing the road when he was struck.

“Paramedics assessed the man and found he had sustained fatal injuries,” he said.

“He was declared dead at the scene.”

In a separate unrelated incident, a motorcycle burned out on the N1 between the Lynwood turnoff and N4 interchange on Saturday afternoon.

The bike caught fire after its back tyre burst resulting in a crash involving only the adult male driver, according to Herbst.

“The accident happened at 17:08 on Saturday,” he said.

“The motorcyclist sustained only minor injuries.”

“He was assessed on scene; however, he declined ambulance transportation to hospital.”
