Abandoned puppies doing well in new homes – Centurion SPCA

Three of the seven puppies found abandoned in a box in Centurion last month, have been adopted and are doing well.

Three of the seven puppies found abandoned in a box in Centurion last month, have been adopted and are doing well.

“The puppies are coping very well in their forever homes,” said Centurion SPCA manager Christina Masemola.

Masemola said four of the puppies were at the local SPCA still waiting to be adopted.

Last month, the puppies were found in a box in Uitsig Road with no water or food.

A concerned resident called the SPCA to rescue them.

When no one came to claim them, the SPCA informed the public they were ready for adoption.

“Abandoning animals is an offence in terms of the animal protection act,” Masemola said.

“This includes any circumstances, permanent or otherwise, which is likely to cause the animal unnecessary suffering.

“We are all saddened by the increase in cases where animals in Centurion are being abandoned on the side of roads.”

She said the act was “totally unacceptable and unnecessary”.

“There is someone on the SPCA property at all hours of the day to admit any stray or surrendered animals,” she said.
