The family of Amy’Leigh confirmed on Thursday that one of the suspects arrested on Wednesday evening for her kidnapping earlier this week is a teacher employed at her Kollegepark Primary School.

The suspect in question, however, was not Amy’Leigh’s teacher specifically.

School principal Coenie Herbst was not available for comment on Thursday morning.

A spokesperson for SAPS national commissioner Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo confirmed in a press release on Thursday that three persons – two men and a woman – have been arrested following the kidnapping on Monday.

Amy’Leigh was kidnapped on Monday morning outside the Kollegepark Primary School in Vanderbijlpark.

Amy’Leigh was released unharmed by her kidnappers during the early hours of Tuesday morning because “the kidnappers knew that the net was closing in on them”, according to Naidoo.

The three suspects linked to the kidnapping of Amy’Leigh are expected to make a brief appearance in court by Friday.

“We are satisfied that we have the three main people responsible for the kidnapping behind bars, but there is a possibility of more arrests.”
