3 liquor outlets shut down as 27 arrested in inner-city operations

Police held a two-day inner-city operation under the banner of “O kae Molao” in Pretoria West, Sunnyside and Central, this week.

Spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said 27 people were arrested for the possession of drugs and stolen property.

“About 102 buildings, more than 780 people and 490 vehicles were searched while three liquor outlets were shut down.”

She said the police also confiscated illicit cigarettes and expired food.

“Fines were issued for non-compliance with [the] second-hand goods act and liquor confiscated,” said Selepe

She said the purpose of the operation was to enhance crime prevention awareness and eradicate crime.

Tshwane SAPS commissioner Major-General Mthombeni thanked all stakeholders and Tshwane metro police for their continued support and dedication to the reduction of crime in the area.

All the arrested were expected in court soon.
