A Villieria liquor control police officer recently created the awareness of the negative effects of public drinking.
“Alcohol abuse could be a crime generator,” said officer Kqabo Moabelo.
“Therefore it is imperative that all liquor traders adhere to the law at all times.”
He said that would assist the police deal with crimes, such as substance abuse, gender-based violence, culpable homicide, domestic violence and other social crimes.
He said public drinking may lead to irresponsible behaviour.
“People should not be proud of drinking alcohol in public.”
Moabelo said he started his career as a police officer at the Pretoria west police training college in 2009 and has been in the service for 10 years.

“As a liquor officer, my duties are to ensure there is compliance within the liquor environment at our police jurisdiction,” he said.
“Within my career, I would like to see myself growing through the police, aiming to take responsibility.”
He urged residents to be responsible when using alcohol.
