Two pedestrians died in two separate incidents within less than a day on the R80 Mabopane Highway in the west of Pretoria.

Two pedestrians died in two separate incidents within less than a day on the R80 Mabopane Highway in the west of Pretoria.

The latest incident happened on Monday morning around 06:10 between Bremer and Dorp Street bridges, said CPF chairperson Peet Deysel.

“A vehicle hit a woman on the highway,” he said.

Although the road had been closed to clear the scene, the road was reopened again by 09:00 and the scene was cleared.

He said a pastor had to rush to the scene for counselling.

“The people were very traumatised,” he said.

Police and metro police were on the scene.

The second incident happened on Sunday night around 19:26 when a man was run over by a vehicle.

“It happened at almost the same spot as the one on Monday morning,” Deysel said.

He said the location was also between Bremer and Dorp Street bridges.

CPF members, metro police and the police were on the scene.

The police could not be reached for comment at the time of going to press.
