Strong rand helps minimise petrol price hike
Motorists will pay more for the 95 octane petrol as it is expected to increase by 18 cents a litre, while 93 octane will decrease by four cents.

The price of petrol is expected to go up by 18 cents a litre on Wednesday, the department of energy has said.
Motorists will pay more for the 95 octane petrol as it is expected to increase by 18 cents a litre, while 93 octane will decrease by four cents.
Diesel and paraffin are each set to go up by 25 cents a litre, on Wednesday.
In a statement, the department said that the increase could have been much worse had it not been for the rand’s resurgence against dollar.
“The rand appreciated on average against the US dollar from R15.17 to R14.90 per dollar during the period under review, when compared to the previous one.
“Had it not been for the stronger rand during this period, the impact of the attacks on Saudi facilities on prices would have been more severe.”
