Centurion roads reopened after car engulfed in flames

Centurion roads have been reopened after a car caught fire earlier on Tuesday afternoon, causing traffic disruptions.

The incident happened around 15:00 on John Vorster Drive, near Akkerboom Steet, said Jacho van der Poll from Emer-G-Med emergency service.

“The battery warning light of the car came on and shortly thereafter the vehicle caught alight,” he said.

“Fortunately, the driver was able to quickly escape the vehicle with his valuables.

“He waited on the scene for the necessary help to arrive.”

Van der Poll said all roads were reopened after the burned-out vehicle was cleared off.

Monitor Net, Emer-G-Med and Lyttelton fire department were on the scene.
