Mystery over north motorcyclist’s death

Sinoville police have appealed for information following the death of a motorcyclist whose body was found a kilometre from where his bike.

Sinoville police have appealed for information following the death of a motorcyclist whose body was found a kilometre from where his bike was abandoned at the weekend.

An abandoned silver Yamaha motorcycle was found in the yellow lane on Sunday, at around 03:50, near the Zambezi off-ramp north.

The motorcyclist was riding from Pretoria east towards Pretoria North when he “mysteriously” disappeared.

The victim’s family took to social media after he failed to arrive home in the evening, asking for anyone with information to make contact with them as his phone was off.

Hours later, the body of the young motorcyclist was discovered at 14:00, while his bike was found about a kilometre away along the highway near Breed Street.

“The approximate time of the incident is estimated between 11:45 and 12:30,” said spokesperson for Sinoville police Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk.

“An inquest is being investigated,” said Van Dyk.

Police appealed to the community to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation to contact Sergeant Piet Ferreira on 071-675-7373 or the Sinoville police station at 012-543-8800.
