UPDATE: Killers of Lesotho pastors still on the run

Pastor David Jika was shot dead during a robbery at a guest house in Silverlakes in the early hours of Friday morning.

Police are still searching for four men in connection with the murder of a Lesotho pastor at a Pretoria east guesthouse.

Pastor David Jika (46) was shot dead during a robbery last Friday morning, at a guesthouse in Silver Lakes, Pretoria, where he and his wife were staying.

Police spokesperson Constable Yeroboam Mbatsane said the four entered the room Jika and his wife Lizzy were sleeping in, fired at them and took off with her handbag, two phones and R10.

Lizzy was locked in the room with her deceased husband and was found minutes later by security officers.

“Police are still searching for the group,” Mbatsane said.

“Two of the men were armed and the other two were unarmed.”

Jika, his wife, his youngest son and his personal assistant were in the country for the church’s flagship event, Christian Revival Church Dreamweek in Bloemfontein from Tuesday until Thursday, and were meant to attend a conference in Pretoria on Friday.

The church has since called on the government to deal more harshly with criminals by applying the full force of the law.

Mbatsane urged any members of the public with information to contact their nearest police station.
