Hair in the Air for cancer awareness
Pretoria's favorite aircraft, Little Annie, did her part for cancer awareness as she took “wings” with the community.
This past weekend, the town’s favourite aircraft, Little Annie, did her part for cancer awareness as she took “wings” with the community.
On Saturday, 5 October Little Annie was part of a project called “Hair in the air” at Wonderboom Airport for cancer awareness.
“It was the first fundraiser of its kind where people get their hair cut and blown on a plane in support of Cancer Month,” said Sophia Hill.
Four willing supporters, with two hairdressers, flew in Little Annie on Saturday.
“The Hair in the Air was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who was part of the initiative,” Hill said.
Because October is also national transport month, Tshwane’s MEC of Transport, Sheila Lynn Senkubuge attended the event at the airport and also had the opportunity to fly in Little Annie.
In addition, about 17 children from Cansa Survivor Kids and from a local orphanage also each had an opportunity
to fly in Little Annie.
“Little Annie flew three flights to make sure each child had a turn,” Hill explained.
Little Annie is part of Just Love Mission, a registered NPO that has been adopted by the Hill family in Pretoria East since 2012.
Today, Little Annie is used to fly orphans and underprivileged children throughout Southern Africa for the very first time.
The Hill family uses Little Annie’s story, who is about an orphan and how she overcame numerous challenges to achieve the seemingly impossible.

“It is hoped that the children are inspired and encouraged to do the same and pay for it in advance,” said Hill.
Hill thanked everyone involved on the day.
