UPDATE: Family loses everything in north house fire

The body of a 27-year-old man was found burnt beyond recognition

One person has died a house fire in Wolmer and another one has been reported missing.

But initial reports of a missing 9-year-old child are not true.

Charles Mabaso, spokesperson for Tshwane EMS, explained to Rekord the information was given to the EMS during the callout to the fire.

“On 11 October a five-room house completely burned down. One male, 27 years of age was found deceased and burned beyond recognition,” Mabasa confirmed.

One person is dead following a house fire this morning in Wolmer.

“It was initially claimed that a child was missing but firefighters only discovered the charred body of the man.

Neighbors of the victims phoned Rekord about the fire this morning.

“They have lost everything. They have nothing left,” a neighbour said.

He said he want to inspect when he heard a commotion.

“By then it was almost over,” the neighbour added.

When Tshwane ESM arrived on scene, firefighters found the house on fire and the roof already collapsed.

Mabasa said the cause of the fire was unknown and was the subject of an investigation.
