N1 between Murrayhill and Hammanskraal to be closed off

The road will be closed on both directions between 12:00 and 16:00 because of live power lines that have fallen onto the road.

The N1 between Murrayhill and Hammanskraal will be closed on both directions on Saturday between 12:00 to 16:00 due to live power lines that have fallen onto the road.

The road had to be closed on Thursday after the beams holding the power lines were reportedly stolen.

Bakwena N1 N4 tolls spokesperson Charmaine van Wyk said the roads would be closed to allow Eskom to repair the power lines.

“Traffic travelling north bound will be diverted off Murrayhill onto the R101 and traffic south bound will be diverted of Hammanskraal onto the R101 as well,” she said.

Van Wyk said the incident has affected electricity supply in the Hammanskraal area.

“Even some of our ramp plazas in the area are operating on generators.”

She said the organisation will have regular updates on twitter @bakwenan1n4.

Motorists were urged to be patient.
