Lights will shine bright this year in Hercules sector 4
The Christmas convoy in the west of Pretoria has already started planning for the end of the year.

The Christmas convoy in the west of Pretoria has already started planning for the end of the year.
This convoy takes place every year in Hercules CPF sector four which includes Andeon and Swacina Park, according to a member of sector four management Edna van Vuuren.
It will kick off on December 7.
“This year will be the third year that myself and my husband, Nico will be a part of the project,” she said.

Van Vuuren said there will also be a “Christmas sleigh” this year that will be decorated with lights and towed by a vehicle.
“Driving with us in convoy, there will also be a fire truck that will join us later in the afternoon,” she says.
“The truck will also be made up with lights.”
She said residents can expect ambulance sirens and vehicle hooters on the day.
“The noise is to let residents know that we are on our way,” she says.

Van Vuuren said everyone who rides in the convoy will also decorate their vehicles for the event.
Santa will then sit on the back of the bakkie to hand out made-up packages of sweets and ice cream.
While there is already planning in place for this day, Van Vuuren said to make it possible, many donations were still needed.
They needed to make a minimum of 1 000 parcels to distribute to cover the entire sector four.
“Our made-up packages have a variety of sweets with a packet of chips and a cold drink,” she said.
“The sweets we put in the packages are wrapped sweets to avoid stickiness.”

Van Vuuren said they needed a minimum of 3 000 ice lollies for the project.
“We have received almost no donations yet,” she said.
She said they also intended to hand out Bibles to adults.
“While this project is about the children, we want to be able to give something to the adults as well,” she says.
“Last year we were able to hand out 365-day booklets to them.”
Van Vuuren said they had already received about 50 Bibles.
“These Bibles are not in good condition. We will have to fix some of them,” she said.
She said any help or donations were welcome.

“This is why we started planning earlier this year so that we can get enough donations to make this project a success,” she said.
