13th Jesus Walk draws hundreds to the streets of the north

Participants marched through Pretoria North streets to highlight social ills like poverty, substance abuse, unemployment and abuse against women and children.

More than 500 residents of Pretoria North and members of the Word and Spirit Church joined hands in the annual Jesus walk to pray for peace on Saturday.

Pastor Henri Wilson said the 13th Jesus Walk kicked off at 14:30, and participants walked about 4km across the community of Pretoria North praising and praying for peace and good things to happen in their community.

He said the Jesus Walk was an annual event which was growing every year.

“The Jesus Walk had one stop whereby we prayed for all our people in the community, businesses, churches, hospitals and schools. We also prayed for the rain.

“Jesus is the only hope and the only answer. May the Lord be glorified may His name be magnified and bless the community in Jesus’ name,” Wilson said.

He said the walk was about breaking the spirit of poverty, substance abuse, unemployment, abuse against women and children, animals, divorce, prostitution crime and other social ills.

The walk started at the church in Eufees Street in Pretoria North with a prayer, and ended at the same location.

Participants walked around the community waving Jesus flags and those representing different countries as the church embraces everyone.

The march was joined by the police, metro police, the church youth and the community patrolling forum.
