No load shedding planned for Sunday

Power expected to be on but Eskom urged consumers to use air-cons sparingly during the heatwave.

Residents across the country can heave a sigh of relief as Eskom has announced no loadshedding has been scheduled for Sunday.
On Saturday, Eskom announced there would be no loadshedding on Sunday.
“The power system, however, remains constrained and volatile and while Eskom is making every effort to limit loadshedding, it could be implemented at short notice should there be a significant shift in plant performance and increased unplanned technical breakdowns.
“Wile some units returned to service as planned, emergency diesel and water reserves had to be used today, to supplement capacity, as generating units returned later than expected. Eskom hopes to replenish diesel reserves for our open cycle gas turbines and to increase water levels at our pumped storage schemes so as to avoid and minimize loadshedding in the coming week.”
Eskom said plans to repair the conveyor belt at the Medupi power station were progressing to achieve full operation and to expedite the return of units that experienced technical problems. “As we are experiencing a heat wave in some parts in the country, we ask consumers to use air conditioners efficiently at 23 degrees Celsius.”
Eskom thanked consumers for their support in reducing demand by using electricity sparingly. Eskom further thanked industrial customers for their participation in load curtailment, when necessary.
