More than 30 shacks were destroyed in a fire at the Bremmer Street informal settlement this afternoon.

“People must please stay away. The wind is causing the fire to spread at an alarming rate.”
Tshwane emergency services Charles Mobaso said Bremmer Street has been cordoned off from Van der Hoff Street and that motorists should seek alternative routes.
Police, metro police and firefighters are on the scene.
Hercules CPF appealed for help and donations from the community, as many residents from the settlement were left destitute. Anyone willing to assist can contact CPF chairman Johan van Staden on 076-954-7333.
