Sammy Marks Museum celebrated entrepreneurship and the arts

The event was a celebration of entrepreneurship and the arts.

Ditsong Sammy Marks Museum, in partnership with ProArte Alphen Park, held a temporary exhibition on Friday morning.

The event was a celebration of entrepreneurship and the arts and was held at the museum.

Nthabiseng Mokwena from Ditsong Museums of SA said the aim of the event was to encourage the youth to pursue entrepreneurship from a young age.

There were entrepreneurship talks which guided the learners about the positives and negatives in the art industry.

Mokwena said they decided to host the event at Sammy Marks Museum because Sammy Mark himself was a businessman and entrepreneur.

Riana van Wyk spoke to the learners about the life and history of Sammy Marks.

She told the learners about his life from being penniless when he came to South Africa, to becoming a millionaire.

The learners also held a temporary art visual exhibition where they showcased their artwork inside the museum.

Mokwena said this was the first time they hosted the event and that they were planning to host it annually at the same venue but they were looking at hosting agricultural and hospitality events as well.

One of the learners, Steven Xakawe, said he had learned a lot about art and entrepreneurs.

He added that he was planning to come back to the museum because there was a lot that he wanted to know about the life of Sammy Marks.

The event ended with a tour inside the Sammy Marks house to see how he lived.
