NEWSFLASH: Manhunt launched after elderly man killed in east

“The man was found with his hands tied behind his back.”

Silverton police have launched a manhunt for those responsible for the murder of an elderly man in Lydiana in the east of Pretoria.

The body of the man was found at a property in Suikerbos Drive at around 07:30 on Saturday, according to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Michael Nel.

“Police arrived at the scene to find the deceased 83-year-old man with his hands tied behind his back,” Nel said.

“The motive for the murder is unknown at this stage.”

Nel said a case of murder had been opened.

“Anyone with more information can contact the police toll-free at 08600-10111,” he said.

“Callers may remain anonymous.”
