West ‘hijacker’ gets surprise police visit
The suspect fired shots at the police as soon as he saw them.

A 33-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly being found in the possession of hijacked vehicles and unlicensed firearm in Atteridgeville.
The arrest was made on Monday evening, following an intelligence-driven operation which included the Tshwane flying squad, Tshwane metro police K9-unit and a tracking company.
Police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said the law enforcement agencies followed the information about a hijacked white Ford Ranger to a hostel in Atteridgeville.
“Upon approaching the premises where the bakkie was parked, a grey VW Polo with one occupant emerged and several shots were fired at the police.
“Police retaliated and managed to pin down the suspect.”

Moloto said the suspect was arrested and a 9mm firearm confiscated.
“Further investigation revealed that the Ranger and the two VW Polos had been reported hijacked earlier in October in Soshanguve, Honeydew and Acardia,” he said.
The suspect was due to appear in the Atteridgeville magistrate’s court soon, while investigations into hijacking and the possession of unlicensed firearm continue.
