UP student found hanging in room

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a student at the University of Pretoria on Tuesday.
The 18-year-old’s body was found hanging from a door with a belt around his neck, said police spokesperson Michael Nel.
Nel said police were called to the scene at about 23:10, where the body was discovered at an off-campus residence.
“An inquest docket has been opened,” he said.
University spokesperson Rikus Delport said the incident was “regrettable”.

“Our prayers and condolences go out to the friends and family,” he said.
This is the second death suspected to be suicide Rekord has reported on at the university in less than two months.
Last month, an 18-year-old female student died after she allegedly jumped off a high-level building falling to her death.
Police found an alleged suicide note in her room.
