NEWSFLASH: Four critically injured in Fountains circle early-morning collision

The driver of the vehicle was removed after the roof had to be cut to get him out.

Four people were critically injured following a collision between a truck and a light motor vehicle on Thursday morning.

Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso said paramedics were called to the scene at 03:41.

“Emergency services arrived on the scene to discover a vehicle stuck underneath a truck,” he said.

“The door had to be removed to get three of the occupants out of the light motor vehicle.”

Mabaso said the driver of the vehicle was removed after the roof was cut to get him out.

The four were taken to the Steve Biko academic hospital.

Ward councillor Shaun Wilkinson said the area has been identified for upgrades as it was prone to accidents.

“The high mast lights have been sorted, so there is visibility,” he said.

“The landscaping, architecture and development at the Fountains area are being reconsidered.”
