Crawford College Pretoria learners Muzzammil Tayob, Kofi Ampomah and Silvana Jacobs were recently short-listed, for selection to represent South Africa at the 31st International Biology Olympiad (IBO).
The three learners, along with 16 other top learners, will write a final selection test in February 2020. This test will be based on the CAPS Grade 10 and 11 topics (at a much higher level) and also the IBO curriculum.
In order to prepare for the Olympiad, the students have to study first and second-year university and medical school books.
The final team chosen to represent South Africa at the 31st IBO in Japan in July 2020, will consist of only four learners and two leaders/jurors.
