Elated west and Moot matrics collect their results
Rekord visited two schools, Hoërskool Hercules and Hoërskool Tuine, in the area on the day learners collected their results.
Hundreds of nervous and enthusiastic matric learners gathered at their various schools in the west and Moot of Pretoria awaiting their results.
“I was very nervous for my results. The stress made me sick,” said Denise Fourie of Hoërskool Hercules.
“But when my friend messaged me this morning [Wednesday] with our names in the paper and I saw my name, I felt much more relieved.”
She said she was happy with her final marks.
“However, I’m only leaving school to go back to school again,” she said jokingly.
Fourie said she would be studying tourism.
“I’m going to miss my school and other learners terribly, but I am excited about this new adventure,” she said.
“It’s going to require me to get out of my comfort zone a little bit, but that’s okay.”
Noluvo Matu said she was happy with the outcome of her results and was excited for the future.
Other learners at the school also enthusiastically collected their certificates.
Most learners Rekord approached were happy with their results.
At Hoërskool Tuine, learners were still eagerly awaiting their results when Rekord arrived.
Spirits were high and learners looked positive and excited for their results.
Matric learners at Moot schools Rietondale High School, Oos Moot and HTS John Vorster have performed well, according to early indications.
Hoërskool Oos Moot top matric students obtained several distinctions and plan on furthering their studies at tertiary institutions.
Carel Fourie obtained seven distinctions with a 91.8% pass followed by Mareli Mostert with six distinctions with average of 90.7% and Brena van der Merwe that obtained eight distinctions with an average of 89.1%.
President Cyril Ramaphosa said the results were a signal that the government’s investment in education, in learner and teacher support and educational infrastructure was yielding results.
The South Africa 2019 matric group achieved a pass rate of 81.3% after a total of 787 717 candidates entered for the NSC examination.
