Minibus carrying essential workers overturns in Centurion

One person was trapped and had to be removed with the jaws of life from the Tshwane fire department.

Six people were injured when a minibus overturned on Ben Schoeman and Eufees roads near Centurion on Thursday morning.

Best Care Ambulances spokesperson Albert Jansen van Nieuwenhuizen said the accident happened at 06:00 as the vehicle was transporting essential workers from various companies to work.

“Six patients sustained moderate to serious injuries,” he said.

“The driver was trapped and had to be removed with the jaws of life from the Tshwane fire department.”

Multiple ambulances transported patients to hospitals. One patient was a woman who sustained an arm fracture.

Van Niewenhuizen said the exact cause of the accident was subject to police investigation.

“We pray for a speedy recovery to those involved,” he said.
