Metro officers help Centurion woman give birth

“After giving birth the mother and baby were taken to the local hospital and are both healthy.”

A Centurion woman gave birth to a baby boy at the local regional Tshwane metro police (TMPD) office on Saturday morning.

The baby boy, named Gabriel, was delivered with the help of TMPD officers while waiting for an ambulance.

“The mother, whose name cannot be disclosed at this stage, entered the Centurion regional office at around 01:00 on Saturday,” said TMPD spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba.

“She asked them to help her call an ambulance. However, while waiting for the ambulance she felt she could no longer wait and had to give birth.”

The mother gave birth to baby Gabriel with the help of Constables Selowa, Phakgadi and Matamba.

“The officers then also gave the baby boy the name ‘Mahlatse’.

“After giving birth the mother and baby were taken to the local hospital and are both healthy.”

Mahamba thanked the officers for going beyond their call of duty in helping the mother.
