Too much screen time can lead to eye strain

How to prevent eye strain in a time when we are glued to our screens.

Whether you are working from home or constantly checking your phone for news updates or messages from friends and family, all that screen time is putting a strain on your eyes – even more than usual. Struggling with sore, tired or watery eyes become the norm and a slight headache, come bedtime, might also be common.

The eye experts from Execuspecs share a few tips on how to prevent eye strain during the lockdown period:

– Blink more, we tend to blink less when working at our computers

– Check your screen angle, incorrect angles can also cause neck and back strain – you should be looking slightly downwards at your screen, not up or straight ahead

– Check the distance of your screen to your eyes – you should not be closer than arm’s length

– Check your brightness settings as well as your contrast settings, your screen should not be brighter than your surroundings

– Make sure that you move away from your screen from time to time to give your eyes a break

– Drink enough water, if you are hydrated then your eyes are hydrated
