Retired reservist arrested in the north for wearing SANDF uniform
The man was stopped when he was caught skipping red traffic lights.
A 47-year-old man was arrested for impersonating a South African Defence Force (SANDF) officer on Saturday in the north of Pretoria.
Tshwane metro police spokesperson, Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba, said the man was stopped when he was caught skipping red traffic lights.
“He was wearing a uniform from the army while he was no longer an officer. He is a retired reservist.”
The man will be charged with impersonating an SANDF member while he is not, Mahamba said.
Metro officers were applauded for a job well done.

Last week Wednesday, three people were arrested in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria, for impersonating police officers as well as common robbery.
“Police received information about two women wearing police uniforms and a man who committed a common robbery,” said Police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo.
He said the trio were part of five people who were arrested for impersonating police officers, a soldier and emergency service employee in Gauteng.
