Two injured, trapped in the Centurion accident wreckage

The driver was trapped for about 45 minutes before he could be safely extricated.

Two people were seriously injured and trapped in the wreckage following a truck collision on the Old Johannesburg Road near the Zwartkop Air Force Base in Valhalla, Centurion.

CERT-SA spokesperson Ruan Heyns said two trucks collided, leaving two people injured.

“The driver and passenger of one of the trucks had to be extricated from the wreckage using the Jaws of Life.”

“The driver was air-lifted to a level one trauma care facility by Netcare911 air ambulance.”

Heyns said the passenger was transported to a nearby hospital and the driver of the other truck sustained no injuries.

He thanked the TMPD, Monitor Net and EMS services for their assistance.
